    It’s June!

    juni 1, 2021
It’s June! A few weeks ago somebody asked me why I choose the name Studio June for my free lance business. Although it had been a while since I told the story, it was really easy to explain. In May 2014, after spending quite some days brainstorming to find the perfect name, Studio June came out as the absolute winner. After designing the logo and filing all the necessary papers, I sat down and wrote this for my website:

June is a month of meaning for me. Ten years ago it was the month I became a mother; a wonderfull thing that completely changed my life and enriched every day since. This year in June (2014), dreams turned into reality by setting up my own creative business.

June reminds me of summer in Holland. We all loved the time when we had just finished another year at school with good grades, and looked expectantly at what was to come next. Looking back with satisfaction and good spirits ahead. We felt free and after working hard to afford a trip to some place in Europe, we pulled into the world, ready for adventure and new experiences. The same kind of feeling I’m enjoying right now with the start of Studio June.

So, whenever June is here, I think back to one of the best decisions I have ever made professionaly. Even during times when work is a little slow, I know this is the way to go.

    Curacao Planner 2021

    januari 11, 2021

Calendar Curacao 2021A new year, a new beginning! It’s a tradition I love: making new year’s resolutions and plans for the year ahead. Ofcourse many resolutions don’t make it till the next season, but I believe that every effort to improve, does have some positive impact. Like this quote says that I found online: A little progress each day adds up.

    Curacao Planner 2021
Planning is not one of my specialties. Making schedules and live life according to them, neither. But I do try to improve, because it does make life so much easier if you are bit prepared. That’s how I came up with the idea of a 2021 year calendar. A planner for Curacao for 2021. Where not only school holidays are included, and official holidays, but also the (most common) celebrations like Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day and Halloween. Because often, these are the ones we easily forget! And then you’re heading to the department store at 5 pm to buy a red shirt or orange face paint for the next day… Well, not in 2021. Now with this planner!

The design is clear, it’s easy to print and stick on your fridge or insert in your agenda. It’s for sale (for a very affordable few bucks) in my (just opened) Etsy Shop: StudioJuneCuracao -Caribbean creativity.

Happy to say that I can already check two boxes: I did open my Etsy shop, and I did make this calendar. Oh, and a third one: I did tell you about it.

Will you join me in making the most of 2021?

Feel free to contact me anytime.

    All the best, take care!

    With a little help

    december 29, 2020

New years give away Studio JuneIt has been a crazy year. We’ve all had so many ups and downs, they’re countless. Don’t worry, I won’t go into detail about the loss, sorrow and disappointments that came our way in 2020. And I won’t be saying that 2021 is going to be different and great and all that, because we really don’t know.

But what I do know, is that there are so many things we can do to help each other in times of trouble. So I decided to start the next year in a positive way and offer a logo design for free for 2 starting entrepreneurs on Curaçao. Many people had to change their carreer plans in 2020 and some of them have choosen to start a small business of themselves. So… are you one of those people, heading off to a new adventure? Are you starting your own business? And would you like to get a chance to win a free logo design? Read the terms and let me know. Deadline for your submission is January 15, 2021. It’s not a lot of work to apply, I just want to hear your story :-)

You can see some of the logos I previously designed on my portfolio page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me any time.

Last but not least, my wishes for you for the upcoming year:

Lots of happiness, health and prosperity in 2021!

Wow, this was nice! The first workshop Art Journaling was an easy going Saturday morning filled with information, laughter, and a lot of creativity. With seven lovely ladies listening, creating and experimenting for hours, the workshop really felt like a succes. Everybody went home with a goodiebag and a smile. And for sure, I was very happy as well. It was a great pleasure to see all this creativity flowing and to be part of it.

    Journals
There were several assignments during the morning, to be made in each one’s personal brand new art journal. We used different approaches like working with pens, watercolor and collage. So much variety in the outcome… it was awesome.

It didn’t take too much time to decide for a second workshop. The next one is scheduled on Saturday November 21. Costs: Naf 159, incl. ob, materials and goodie bag

Never heard of art journaling before?

An art journal is a journal or notebook containing drawings, text, doodles, sketches, or mixed media elements such as collages, which you use to describe and record moments, thoughts, emotions and important values in your life. If you use an art journal, it can help you to:
    • Boost your self-confidence (let go of what others think)
    • Release the need for perfection
    • Become more mindful
    • Trust your intuition
    • Cultivate gratitude and joy

and most of all: Unleash your creativity

If you are interested in joining the workshop or have any questions, just contact me at saskia@studiojune.net. Or go to Facebook to follow the event and get all updates. Hope to see you around!

    Confusing it is

    april 14, 2020
    Quotes for art journal

Some quotes to inspire you during these confusing times

Oh, these times are confusing. The Corona-virus keeps us all inside, at home. Many of us do not have a job anymore, or cannot work as long as we are not allowed back on the streets. We spend a lot of time with our family and long for some time alone, or are feeling lonely and long for the company of friends and relatives. We worry, and at the same time, we enjoy the amount of time we have to unwind, read books and clean up the closets. We are scared, but try to comfort others. Yes, times are definitely confusing. My way of dealing with this? Writing, painting and drawing in my journals and sketchbooks!

It was too bad I had to postpone my first workshop about art journaling on the first of April. I was really looking forward to it. But I’m sure there will be another time where I can pursue this little dream of me. In the meantime, I have put together some tips for you if you would like to try journaling at home. Give it a try, you have nothing to loose and definitely something to win!
