    Curacao Planner 2021

    januari 11, 2021

Calendar Curacao 2021A new year, a new beginning! It’s a tradition I love: making new year’s resolutions and plans for the year ahead. Ofcourse many resolutions don’t make it till the next season, but I believe that every effort to improve, does have some positive impact. Like this quote says that I found online: A little progress each day adds up.

    Curacao Planner 2021
Planning is not one of my specialties. Making schedules and live life according to them, neither. But I do try to improve, because it does make life so much easier if you are bit prepared. That’s how I came up with the idea of a 2021 year calendar. A planner for Curacao for 2021. Where not only school holidays are included, and official holidays, but also the (most common) celebrations like Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day and Halloween. Because often, these are the ones we easily forget! And then you’re heading to the department store at 5 pm to buy a red shirt or orange face paint for the next day… Well, not in 2021. Now with this planner!

The design is clear, it’s easy to print and stick on your fridge or insert in your agenda. It’s for sale (for a very affordable few bucks) in my (just opened) Etsy Shop: StudioJuneCuracao -Caribbean creativity.

Happy to say that I can already check two boxes: I did open my Etsy shop, and I did make this calendar. Oh, and a third one: I did tell you about it.

Will you join me in making the most of 2021?

Feel free to contact me anytime.

    All the best, take care!

    Discovering Curacao

    juni 18, 2018

The Caribbean is often associated with white sandy beaches and tropical cocktails. People living in the middle of a country who have never seen the ocean, dream about palm trees, the azure water and lots, lots of sunshine. No wonder tourism agencies are mostly promoting blue skies and seas and bright sunny days; for many people it is a very attractive package.

The panoramic shots of a happy hour on the beach – decorated with colored light bulbs and flip flops, is very Instagram worthy. Pictures like that are widely shared and liked, and therefore successfully promoting Curacao as a holiday destination. People who live here are proud to share their selfies on the beach or in the hammock. Sharing the joy of living on a tropical island to all those people not living there… I know it is kind of a good feeling. But personally, I am tending to get a little tired of all that blue.

Nature of CuracaoWhat I would like to do, is show more. I would like to show a broader view of this remarkable island. The meaningful traditions, the characteristic buildings, the astonishing underwater world, the beautiful flowers, shells and plants we inhabit.  After living in the Caribbean for almost 18 years, of which 13 on Curacao, you might think we have seen it all. But in fact, it is the opposite; we still see something new almost every day. Forcing ourselves to keep our eyes open, to learn and grow. A very effective way is to take my camera along. When focusing through the lens, the level of awareness increases immensely. That’s probably one of the reasons why I love photography so much.

Old fashioned phoneIn the past years I have been capturing a lot of the beauty of Curacao. After sharing it occasionally on Facebook and Instagram, now is the time to bring all of it together in one place. Therefore, I recently launched my new website: discoveringcuracao.com. Selling my photos as stock images for both editorial and commercial use. Every image is accompanied by a small text to inform about the subject, which I write myself; another wonderful way for me to learn and discover. I truly, sincerely hope people will find their way to my photos and use them for promotion of Curacao, its businesses and possibilities. Marketeers, tourism agencies, web designers; let’s consider this as a chance to show the other side of Curacao. In the meantime, I will go out and look for even more beautiful, interesting and inspiring things around. Let’s keep discovering.

    Rock this boat!

    oktober 25, 2017

Some things in life should always stay the same, don’t you think? The heartwarming smile of a friend never gets boring, a hot cup of coffee will always be appreciated.  But, a lot of things do get better when you try something new. Think bad habits, daily routines, working on auto mode.

Do you like your job? Does it bring happy thoughts when you wake up in the morning? To me, enjoying my work – without losing productivity out of sight, get’s more and more important.

My life revolves around creativity. After many years I have come to a point of no return: I want to create and want to share. How lucky I am to work in this digital driven world without any boundaries. Would have been a lot different back in – let’s say the seventies, eighties or even the nineties!

So now I’m cooking up some new things, to share my pictures, my beliefs, my sketches – or why not call it art – with the world. Starting with this blog, and in a few months I will hopefully launch my next project. Stay tuned, I’m gonna rock this boat!
